Tomahawk man busted on birthday, faces six new charges

TOMAHAWK, WI  (WSAU)  -  A twenty eight year old Tomahawk man is in the Lincoln County Jail after a crash in the Town of Bradley Tuesday afternoon. Joshua A. Boyd was apparently in a hurry to be someplace on his birthday, as he passed a DNR warden and a Lincoln County deputy in excess of 90 miles-per-hour. The warden and deputy attempted to stop the speeding vehicle on Highway CC leaving Tomahawk, but Boyd rear ended another vehicle before he could be caught. A 78-year-old Tomahawk woman was treated at the scene for minor injuries.

Boyd eluded officers by hiding in the woods after the crash, but he was later spotted by residents in the Peaceful Valley Road area. He was taken into custody by Tomahawk Police when he crossed the Jersey Lane railroad trestle. State Patrol troopers, and the Rhinelander K-9 unit assisted with the search.

Boyd was booked into the Lincoln County Jail on three felony charges of reckless driving causing injury, hit and run causing injury, and sixth offense operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated. He also faces misdemeanor charges of trespassing on railroad property, resisting arrest, and an eighth offense of operating a motor vehicle while revoked. Boyd will have a bond hearing on Wednesday in Lincoln County Court.

The incident occurred at 3:05 p.m. Boyd was taken into custody just before 8:00 p.m.
