RHINELANDER, WI (WSAU) - A recently-released sex offender didn’t stay out of jail long. 30-year-old Albert Chagnon was released in Rhinelander this August, but was taken back to jail a week later.
Chagnon allegedly attempted to contact a 15-year-old minor by emails, letters, and Facebook without reporting this to the Wisconsin Department of Corrections. He now faces a possible six additional years in prison. Chagnon has a preliminary hearing on the new charges Friday.
He was originally convicted in 2002 of possessing child pornography. Two years ago, he violated probation by photographing a minor without her parent’s permission.
