GREEN BAY, WI (WSAU) - A D.C. Everest football player injured Friday is still hospitalized in Green Bay. Mitchell Boals was hurt in the loss to Bay Port at Suamico when a Bay Port receiver landed on him after making a catch. Boals was sent to St. Vincent Hospital as a precaution when he started coughing up blood before the bus ride home. That move saved Boals’ life. Doctors found he was bleeding internally and needed emergency surgery. They say he wouldn’t have survived the bus ride home. Boals had over a quart of blood in his abdomen. Doctors compared his injuries to someone in a car crash. Boals may be discharged today if he is well enough. He says he is definitely coming back for more football next season.
