PEWAUKEE, WI (WSAU) - If you’re looking for hard-to-find sports memorabilia, perhaps you’re looking in the wrong place. You could take home rare autographed Packers items at an auction next month held by the Internal Revenue Service. A taxpayer from the Delavan area owes money to the IRS and the IRS seized thousands of dollars worth of collectables which will be auctioned off.
IRS appraiser Dan Holmes has the job of evaluating property seized from deliquent taxpayers and auctioning the items off. He says there are many collectable items on the auction block. "We've got a couple of Lombardi bobbleheads, one's about six inches and one's about thirty inches so it's rather unique. We have a rocking horse decked out in Green Bay colors. We also have some Brett Favre signed items. We also have an old contract, I believe it was from 1931."IRS Media Relations Specialist Christopher Miller says many of these items are hard to find, including Super Bowl 31 and 32 footballs, and a picture of Greg Jennings following his first NFL touchdown."
The preview is Halloween Day, and the auction is November 1st at the Holiday Inn in Pewaukee. The sales are cash or certified funds only. No checks or credit cards.
