MILWAUKEE, WI (WTAQ) - At least one Democratic lawmaker wants to make it harder for domestic abusers to buy a gun in Wisconsin.
The move comes in response to Sunday’s deadly shooting at a salon in Brookfield which left four people dead, including the shooter.
State Representative Jon Richards of Milwaukee says he will introduce legislation at January's session to close the legal loopholes which let domestic violence perpetrators get or keep weapons. The Democrat says his legislation would not affect law-abiding citizens who want to own a gun.
Authorities say the Brookfield shooter bought his gun two days after a judge ordered him not to have any weapons as a part of a restraining order requested by his estranged wife.
