MILWAUKEE, WI (WTAQ) - Democrat Tammy Baldwin now has a definitive lead over Republican Tommy Thompson in the new Marquette Law School poll.
The numbers released Tuesday afternoon show that Congresswoman Baldwin has a 47-to-43 percent lead over Thompson – beyond the poll’s two-point-eight percent margin of error.
The last Marquette poll in mid-October had the two Senate hopefuls in a statistical dead-heat, with Baldwin leading by just one point at 46-45.
Independents gave a six-point edge to Baldwin, after they had endorsed Thompson by three months in the last Marquette survey.
Those who’ve voted early said they went with Baldwin 52-to-36-percent. Most of the rest wouldn’t answer the question. Almost 12-hundred-50 voters were surveyed on the November contest between last Thursday and Sunday.
The final debate between the Senate hopefuls was held on the Friday night of the survey period.
