Marshfield School Board race: Billboard allegations a "distraction"

MARSHFIELD, WI (WSAU) - An already hotly-contested school board race is heating up in Marshfield, just in time for tomorrow’s election. Former city attorney Dennis Juncer and former alderman Scott Kenneth Noble are calling allegations of campaign finance violations, “fabricated.”

Noble says a campaign billboard was paid for by his campaign funds, not by ‘independent donor’ Carl Mueller as alleged in a newspaper report. Noble says, “He (Mueller) was just acting as an agent. He just happens to be an expert in billboards.” According to Noble, less than $1,000 has been spent on his campaign, making it, “technically exempt from financial disclosure. He also thinks the allegations are just a distraction saying, “Real issues need our attention, not accusations.”

Dennis Juncer says contrary to front-page headlines, Reid Magny at the Government Accountability Board says no violations occurred. Juncer went on to question the motives of local media, saying, “This stuff in the newspaper, it’s just some of this ‘gotcha’ reporting that so much media seems to be into.”

Juncer and Noble are on the ballot with Amber Kiggens-Leifheit and Peter Mancl. From the four candidates, two winners will be selected in Tuesday’s closely watched election.
