WAUSAU, Wis (WSAU) All three of Wausau's public swimming pools need expensive repairs and renovations. Yesterday the city's Parks & Recreation Committee voted to fix the pools one at a time - starting in 2014.
The Keiser Pool would be the first to be repaired. It wouldn't open next summer, and would resume operations in 2015 with a new locker room and snack bar. All of the pools would also have cracks repairs to keep them from leaking water.
The city's other two pools would be renovated in 2015 and 2016.
The Parks & Rec Committee proposal is only a recommendation. It would need to be approved by the full city council, and the funding - $2.5-million - would need to be included in the city budget.
