Brewers wild pitch gives Arizona 3-1 win Friday

MILWAUKEE, WI (WSAU) - The Milwaukee Brewers lost their series opener with the Arizona Diamondbacks 3-1. The D-backs scored a pair of go-ahead runs on a seventh-inning wild pitch at Miller Park Friday evening.

The D-Backs got on the board first. Martin Prado led off the 4th inning with a double and scored two outs later when Paul Goldschmidt smacked a double to right-center field.

The lead didn’t last long as the Brewers tied tied it up when Gene Segura hit his first career home run for the Crew.

Aramis Ramirez left the game early with a knee sprain after a sliding collision with 2nd base. Ryan Braun was scratched before game time due to muscle spasms in his neck. Manager Ron Roenicke is optimistic Braun can return Saturday. That took the Brewers usual 3rd and 4th hitters out of the contest.

Relief pitching prevented further damage, but the 2-run wild pitch was all Arizona needed for the win. Kyle Lohse started is first Brewers game and threw 87 pitches in six innings of work.

Milwaukee was in their retro uniforms Friday, featuring the popular ball and glove logo.
