Local stars ready for Dancing For The Paws event Saturday, tickets still available

ROTHSCHILD, WI (WSAU) - It’s getting closer to showtime for several local celebrities raising money for the Humane Society. That includes WIFC Radio’s Paul Belky. Belky is participating in the first “Dancing For The Paws” show this Saturday, April 13th at the Patriot Center.

The other five contestants are Emily Neubauer from WAOW TV, Tammy Wickersham from Wickersham Jewelry, Lisa Sipple from Northwest Communications, Gail Boetcher from People’s State Bank, and Keith DuPuis from Adrenaline Marketing.

Tom Neterval from Get Out And Dance is one of the organizers. He is also working with the contestants on their dance moves. “We started training six celebrities and business owners in November and they each have to learn two routines, and they’re all doing really great.” He adds that dancing is not the only part of the show. “Doors open at 5:00 o'clock. There is a silent auction at five, a dinner at six, and the show starts probably around 7:00 o'clock.”

WIFC’s Paul Belky has been in training for this Saturday’s event.  Belke admits he was a little apprehensive when first approached about participating in Dancing For The Paws, because he had never danced before. “They called me, and I said I don’t if I can do that and I don’t think I’m interested, but then I thought about it and it was for a local humane society here in Marathon County and I said, you know what, I’ll do it. That’s when I found out I had to take five and a half months of dance lessons!”

Along with helping with the Humane Society fundraiser, Belky has another special reason for getting involved. “Another reason why I did it was because of my grandmother who passed away about a year and a half ago. (We) would always watch Dancin’ With The Stars together and I thought this would be a great opportunity to do a perhaps do a dance for her.” Belky’s routine includes a waltz for his grandmother.

Tickets for Saturday’s Dancing For The Paws are still available at the Humane Society and several area businesses.  VIP Dinner show tickets may be very hard to get, since the dinner plans have been finalized.
