SHAWANO, WI (WSAU) - It didn’t take long for officers to catch a bank robber in Shawano Monday. City police and Shawano County Sheriff’s Department officers arrested 47-year-old Darrin H. Church.
Church had attempted to rob the Cash Tyme Store at 3:38 p.m. Monday by demanding money from the staff, but they didn’t comply. Only 20 minutes later, Church robbed the Co-Vantage Credit Union two blocks away and left with a large sum of money.
Officers had a description of Church from both financial institutions, and were able to arrest him and recover all of the cash.
No weapon was used in the robbery or the attempted robbery.
Formal charges are expected Tuesday for robbery of a financial institution and attempted robbery of a financial institution. Church also had a warrant for his arrest. He has a history of writing bad checks.
