MILWAUKEE, WI (WSAU) It might take a few weeks for Milwaukee Brewers’ third baseman Aramis Ramirez to return from a sprained left knee. He played catch over the weekend, but manager Ron Roenicke emphasized that Ramirez will have to be as close to 100-percent as possible before he can return. T
he skipper said the veteran Ramirez is a “gamer” and would play hurt, but quote, “If he gets injured again, I’d really be concerned about the length of time – We can’t afford to lose this guy again.”
Ramirez hurt his left knee 10 days ago while sliding into second base. It’s a similar injury to what he had in Spring Training. He was out for two weeks then, but Roenicke says the injury is healing slower this time.
Ramirez was batting .385 when he was put on the disabled list. He hit 27 homers and drove in 105 runs for the Brewers last season.
Milwaukee is off today, and will host San Francisco tomorrow night.
