MADISON, WI (WSAU) - Aerial manure spraying is getting opposition from some environmental activists. A group called Sustain Rural Wisconsin Network wants the Wisconsin Towns Association to create a model ordinance to eliminate aerial manure spraying. They claim the pathogens in untreated manure can get into the air, creating a health risk.
Wisconsin’s Agriculture Secretary Ben Brancel and DNR Secretary Cathy Stepp don’t want the towns to restrict approved spraying systems unless the risks are proven.
Sustain Rural Wisconsin Network is also opposed to more large scale industrial farms.
