by

WAUSAU, WI  (WSAU)  -  The man charged with assaulting two Marathon County corrections officers was bound over for trial Wednesday.

20-year-old Fredrick Morris appeared in Marathon County Court, and waived his preliminary hearing.  Judge Michael Moran ordered Morris bound over for arraignment and trial and continued his bond at $250,000.

A pretrial conference was scheduled for May 1st at 9:00 a.m. and an arraignment hearing May 6th at 2:00 p.m.

Morris is charged with aggravated battery and battery of a corrections officer.   Corrections officers Julie Christensen and Denney Woodward were injured in the March 27 incident when Morris refused to return to his cell.   Christensen suffered a fractured skull and remains hospitalized.

Morris could get 18 years in prison if convicted.
