Jury selected in Clark murder case, opening statements underway

Larry Clark mugshot from Adams County Sheriff's Department

The jury has been selected for an Adams County man accused of murdering his mother. 61-year-old Larry Clark is accused of shooting his mother at home in 2010. 79-year-old Marcella Clark’s body was found wrapped in a tarp in a wooded section of her Big Flats property. She had two bullet wounds in the back.

Juneau County Judge James Connell is presiding over the trial. He and attorneys narrowed down the 90 people in the jury pool to 12 plus two alternates in just under four hours Monday morning. Some of the questions for potential jurors included asking if they had ever cared for an elderly person and if they have ever lived any of their adult lives with one or both of their parents. Judge Connell asked if any of the potential jurors heard about the case in the news, and there was some laughter as nearly everyone raised their hands.

Opening statements are underway at the Adams County Courthouse in Friendship.
