Powerball jackpot grows even larger

UNDATED (WSAU-Wheeler News)   Thanks to heavy ticket sales, the Powerball jackpot rose by another $25-million yesterday. It’s now at $425-million for tonight’s drawing. That’s the third-highest jackpot for Powerball, and the fourth-highest in U-S lottery history.

The record Powerball prize of $590-and-a-half million was won by a Florida woman in mid-May. The current jackpot has been building since late June. Tonight’s cash option has risen to about $245-million.

Nobody won the Mega Millions’ jackpot last night, so it goes up to $28-million for that game’s next drawing on Friday night. Only two players nationally won the quarter-million-dollar second prize. They were sold in Illinois and California.
