WAUSAU, Wis. (WSAU) - The 400 Block will be hopping this weekend for the annual Susan G Komen Race for the Cure.
It's the annual 5K Run Walk to raise money towards women's cancer research. Race organizer Susan Ford Hoffert says they'll be taking over the 400 block on Sunday. "We've got tents and events. We're hoping to turn the whole darn thing Pink."
Hoffert says the survivors of breast cancer will be front and center for the event. "We'll have a breakfast for them, they'll get their photos taken, and then we'll have the Survivor Parade. It's very moving."
Online registration for the event is closed, but you can still register for the race this weekend at the Wausau Center Mall. Hoffert says they've got a good turnout lined up. "We've got a thousand people signed up, and we usually get more before the event."
The 5K race gets underway at 9am on Sunday, with the 1 mile Fun Run at 9:20 am. We've got info from a link on the homepage.
