WAUSAU, Wis. (WSAU) - Downtown Wausau turned pink yesterday for the 4th annual Susan G Komen Race for the Cure.
Race organizer Susan Ford Hoffert says it was a great turnout. "I don't have final numbers yet but we were taking a lot of people at the last minute. I think we're at least 1500 and just looking outside I think it's higher than that."
Hoffert says the work for the race was donated. "We've had a wonderful response from the area. If you look out at the 400 Block, it's just packed." Early estimates from the organizers say they raised more than $180,000, and you can still donate. The foundation will continue taking donations for the final total through September 30th.
Planning for next year's race starts next week.
