RHINELANDER, Wis. (WSAU) - A Rhinelander man faces attempted homicide charges for shooting his uncle on Monday.
23-year-old Marcus Alsteens was in court today in Oneida County, charged with attempted homicide and aggravated battery with domestic abuse modifiers. A criminal complaint alleges Alsteen shot his uncle Justin Alsteens after the two got into an argument at their home. Marcus fled the scene and was later arrested near Eagle River.
District Attorney Michael Schiek said Marcus Alsteens has local ties and no serious prior record, but the charges are serious and asked for a high cash bond. The court agreed and held him on $50,000 cash bond.
Justin Alsteens remains in critical condition at a Marshfield hospital. Marcus Alsteens will be in court again on Monday.
