MILWAUKEE, WI (LEARFIELD-WSAU) Milwaukee Bucks’ center Larry Sanders has signed a four-year contract extension worth 44-million dollars. General manager John Hammond confirmed the signing Tuesday afternoon, after a tentative agreement was reached last Friday.

Sanders will make three-million dollars in the fourth-and-final year of his rookie contract, and then the extension will kick in and run through mid-2018.

Sanders was a back-up for his first two years, before becoming Milwaukee’s starting center last season. He averaged about 10 points, nine-and-a-half rebounds, and two-point-eight blocked shots per game. He had the N-B-A’s second-highest average for blocks, and was third in the media voting for the league’s most improved player last season.

Sanders had a triple-double against Minnesota last season, tying a team record with 10 blocked shots in that contest.
