PORT EDWARDS, Wis. (WSAU) - A Port Edwards chemical plant expansion has stalled due to circumstances beyond their control.
Superior Plus Corporation has been expanding their hydrochloric acid production facility. The 18-million dollar upgrade is waiting for a key piece of equipment that was damaged in shipment. A hydrochloric acid burner is needed to finish the Port Edwards plant expansion project, but the burner they ordered was damaged while being loaded for shipment.
Replacing that one piece of equipment is not a simple task. In a press release Wednesday, Superior Plus Corporation said the loading accident will delay the completion of the Port Edwards project by approximately one year. They now anticipate the new equipment to go into production in early 2015.
