STEVENS POINT, Wis. (WSAU) - Trivia buffs rejoice as Trivia Unplugged returns for its fifth year in Stevens Point.
It's a benefit for the Portage County Arts Alliance, something that quizmaster Jim "The Oz" Oliva takes to heart. Oliva says the Arts Alliance offers a lot to the community. "Whether it be the sculpture park, art stores, Art in the Park." The Alliance will be using the funds from the contest this year to help renovate the Fox Theatre downtown.
Olivia says this is a quiz challenge for old school trivia buffs. "They walk in, we give them pencils, scratch paper, answer sheets, and then they play." Teams of ten will compete over the 6 hours of the challenge with just their wits to answer the questions.
Where the April Contest is a test of researching skills, Oliva says the Unplugged Contest aims to stress and test the teams' general knowledge. "There's so much out there, and there's so much popular information, and that's what we ask. Things that people should know."
The contest will be held at the Noel Hangar at the Stevens Point Airport starting at 3:00pm on September 21st. Signups are available on site. Registration for the teams of 10 will be 160 dollars. Spectators are welcome and dinner will be provided.
