WAUSAU, WI (WSAU) - Homeless in the Wausau area won’t have to freeze outdoors tonight. The newly-prepared Community Warming Center will offer up to fifteen homeless individuals overnight shelter.
The Community Warming Center is in the lower level of Saint Paul’s Community Center in Wausau’s downtown. The new offering was rapidly put together by a coalition of charitable groups and non profit agencies, with much of the building preparation and furnishings donated.
Director Diane Borchardt says they are still looking for additional volunteers to help staff the Warming Center.
Catholic Charities is the lead agency operating the center, which is open during evenings and overnights until the winter season is over.
For more information on how to volunteer or donate supplies, contact Catholic Charities Monday through Thursday at (715) 849-3311.
