Snowfall helps winter tourism

UNDATED (WRN)  Tourism officials can’t help but smile after Wednesday’s snow storm.

Some parts of the state got nearly 10 inches of snow and Wisconsin Department of Tourism Secretary Stephanie Klett is over the moon. “Those of us in the Wisconsin Department of Tourism are so happy to see the snow. And I’ve heard back from convention and visitor bureau directors from across the state … they are thrilled.”

There is always plenty to do in Wisconsin — with or without snow — but Klett says this new covering is a great way to enjoy the season with activities such as snow-tubing, snow-boarding, and plenty more. “If you haven’t enjoyed winter yet, now is the time. This is a wonderful snow for sledding and ice skating and going downhill skiing.”

Klett recommends everyone get outdoors and take advantage of the recent snow accumulation. It’s important to take into consideration the wind chills and dress appropriately or put off going outdoors until the temps are more bearable.

Wisconsin’s tourism is a $16 billion industry.
