WISCONSIN RAPIDS, WI (WSAU) -  The Marshfield man accused of stabbing his ex-girlfriend to death last fall has additional charges and a new plea.

Gabriel Campos faces homicide charges for the death of 18-year-old Maisie McCullough. Additional charges were filed this week for allegedly attempting to hire a Wood County jail inmate to murder McCullough’s new boyfriend by offering him cash, a car, and an assault rifle. Now, Campos has changed his plea on the original murder charge to not guilty by reason of mental disease or defect.

Judge Todd Wolf has ordered a psychological evaluation of Campos, which will be done by Dr. Richard Hurlbut at the jail. That report is due in court March 4th.

Campos remains incarcerated, unable to post bond.
