Pointer Women's Hockey shuts out Marian Tuesday 7-0

STEVENS POINT, WI  (WSAU)  -  Seven different Pointers scored Tuesday evening as the UW-Stevens Point women's hockey team cruised past Marian University, 7-0.  Box Score The Pointers scored two first period goals to take the 2-0 lead into the first intermission. Michelle Lunneborg (Richfield, MN/Richfield)got the scoring started, scoring her third goal in as many games. UWSP came out firing again in the second period, scoring four goals, including two in the last three minutes, to take the 6-0 lead. Midway through the third period, Hailey Rock (St. Croix, WI/Central) scored her first career goal to cap off the Pointers scoring. Megan Nickelson (North St. Paul, MN/North) led the Pointers, scoring a goal and tallying two assists on the evening. Nicole Schaub (Vadnais Heights, MN/White Bear Lake) also netted a goal and picked up an assist in the victory. The Pointers used a different goalie in each period to combine for nine saves. The Sabres used two goalies on the evening, combining for 39 saves. UWSP (11-7-3, 9-4-3 NCHA) will host the Yellowjackets of UW-Superior for a pivotal weekend series Feb. 8 and 9 at Ice Hawks Arena.
