WAUSAU, WI (WSAU) - Two of Wisconsin’s Boy Scout Councils outperformed everyone else in the country.
The Boy Scouts of America rank their councils nationwide using a point system. They examine elements including membership growth, strength in programming, and the individual council’s financial health.
Of the 296 councils nationwide, the Samoset Council based in Wausau and the Chippewa Valley Council based in Eau Claire were ranked number one and number two respectively. The two Wisconsin winners scored very high in the national Journey To Excellence point system which also looks at member retention, fundraising, community service, and the percentage of scouts advancing to new levels.
