EAGLE RIVER, WI (WSAU) - Construction workers discovered a bit of history while tearing down part of the Eagle River Memorial Hospital. They found a metal box inside the original cornerstone of the building, and the box contained several old artifacts from 1961 and before and more from an expansion project in 1983.
Items included original fundraising dinner tickets from 1955, a letter from a donor, and sales packets for their “Buy a Brick to Help the Sick” campaign in the ‘50’s. Several old brochures and newspaper articles were also in the box, along with an Aunt Jemima doll made by a local resident as part of a fundraiser.
