STEVENS POINT, WI (UWSP)  -  The UW-Stevens Point women's hockey team dropped game two of its weekend series against UW-Superior Saturday afternoon, 5-2.

Box Score

The Yellowjackets scored two quick goals to jump out to an early 2-0 lead, just over five minutes into the game. Midway through the first period Josie Johnson (Waunakee, WI/Waunakee) cut the Pointers deficit in half, 2-1, as she scored off the stick of Michelle Lunneborg (Richfield, MN/Richfield). Brooke Hanson (Maple Grove, MN/Maple Grove) knotted the game at 2-2 midway through the second period as she deflected a shot off the stick of Johnson and into the net.

Less than five minutes later UW-Superior took advantage of a UWSP penalty to take the 3-2 advantage into the third period. After the Yellowjackets netted their fourth goal of the contest, the Pointers pulled goalie Hillary Drake (Mosinee, WI/Mosinee) to skate an extra attacker. Shortly after UW-Superior broke free from defenders to score the empty net goal and seal the 5-2 victory.

Janna Beilke-Skoug (Madison WI/East) and Drake split time in the net, combining for 24 saves. Megan Leikkari recorded the win in goal for Yellowjackets, tallying 33 saves.

The Pointers return to action Friday, Feb. 15 as they host St. Norbert at 7 p.m.
