BIRNAMWOOD, Wisc (WSAU) A man is in custody after a New Year's Day stabbing in Birnamwood. Shawano County sheriffs deputies say the incident happened around 6am.
The suspect and the victim had traveled together to a New Year's party. They got into a heated argument. The suspect, a 20-year-old from Keshena, left the residence, came back with a sharp-edged weapon, and stabbed the victim several times in the neck.
Shawano County sheriffs deputies responded to a 9-1-1 call and arrested the man. His name will be released when he makes a court appearance later today. He'll be charged with attempted first-degree homicide.
The victim, a 35-year-old from Shawano, was transferred to Wausau-Aspirus Hospital where he's in stable condition.
