MADISON, WI (LEARFIELD-WSAU) The Wisconsin men’s hockey team returns from its holiday break to host a pair of games against Michigan Tech tonight and tomorrow night. The Badgers are just 1-10-and-1 overall, and they’re playing a fifth-ranked Michigan Tech squad that’s 14-and-4.
Coach Mike Eaves’ Badgers have not played since December 12th, when they lost a 4-to-1 exhibition to the U-S Under-18 national team. Junior forward Grant Besse leads Wisconsin with three goals, seven points, and 33 shots on goal. Michigan Tech took third place this past Sunday and Monday at the Great Lakes invitational. They edged Ferris State 4-to-2 in the third-place contest.
Yesterday, the Badgers said that defenseman Jake Bunz of Middleton has joined the team, effective immediately. Bunz played for the Chicago Steel of the U-S Junior League, where he scored one goal and six points in 24 games this season.
You can hear the game on WSAU at 6:30
The third-ranked Badger women’s hockey team has one more weekend off before playing at Minnesota next Saturday and Sunday.
