BREAKING: Wisconsin Assembly Passes Budget Without Debate 55-42

MADISON, WI (WTAQ) - In an unusual move, the Wisconsin Assembly passed the proposed two-year state budget without much of a debate. The abrupt vote was 55-42. MADISON  (WSAU-TSN)   Ryan Evans led four Badgers in double-figures with 13 points as the Wisconsin defeated the Penn State Nittany Lions, 60-51, in Big Ten Conference play at the Kohl Center.

Evans was only one rebound shy of a double-double in the Wisconsin (10-4, 1-0 BTC) win. Mike Bruesewitz scored 12 points and was two rebound shy of a double-double. Ben Brust and Jared Berggren contributed 13 points a piece as the Badgers extended a four game win streak.

For the Nittany Lions (8-5, 0-1), Jermaine Marshall scored a game-high 19 points and D.J. Newbill scored 12 points as Penn State had a four game win streak snapped

Both teams struggled shooting in the first half. Wisconsin forced 10 turnovers and outscored Penn State 13-2, in points off turnovers, en route to a 29-18 advantage over the Nittany Lions at the break.

Penn State made 15-of-28 from the floor while holding Wisconsin to a mere 2- of-6 from long range and 9-of-20 from the free throw line in the second half but Penn State shot just one free throw in the final 20 minutes.

Wisconsin outscored Penn State 13-0 in points from the free-throw line. The Badgers forced 15 turnovers while limiting their own turnover total to just four.
