SHAWANO, Wis (WSAU) The Shawano County sheriffs department says it will make aerial photographs available to warn ice-fishermen about thin ice. A local pilot has been taking pictures of bodies of water -- which clearly show where the ice isn't stable. The sheriffs department posted the latest pictures on their web site yesterday (Thursday) afternoon.
Of particular concern is Shawano Lake, where ice thickness has varied widely -- anywhere from 10-inches to 2-inches... sometimes a short distance apart.
With warm weather over the next 48 hours, more problems with thin ice are expected this weekend.
