STEVENS POINT, Wis (WSAU) A doctor from Custer is charged with 16-counts of prescription drug fraud. 58-year-old Rick Perkins entered a 'not guilty' plea in Portage County court. He's free on $100,000 signature bond.
Police believe he was writing fake prescriptions for his step-son and his roommate. The pain killers were actually intended for himself.
Police started their investigation after a traffic stop involving Brian Beyer of Plover. Beyer had a bottle of pills in his car that didn't have his name on it.
Perkins will be back in court for a pre-trial hearing in March.
