MADISON, WI (WTAQ) - In an unusual move, the Wisconsin Assembly passed the proposed two-year state budget without much of a debate. The abrupt vote was 55-42. WAUSAU, Wisc (WSAU)   A TV news report suggests that Marathon County Sheriff Randy Hoenisch is trying to avoid questions about criminal charges against his wife.

Kim Hoenisch was charged with stealing prescription drugs from the homes of former inmates that she supervised as a probation officer. She's since resigned her job, and has reached a plea bargain. We won't know the terms of that settlement until her next court appearance on January 28th.

Meanwhile WAOW-TV says they've been trying to speak to the sheriff about the charges against his wife. They say repeated calls and emails to the sheriffs office have gone unanswered. When they've sent reporters there in person, they were told he was out of the office.

The case against Kim Hoenish is being handled by a special prosecutor and is being overseen by a judge in Taylor County.
