MOBILE, ALA (WSAU) Green Bay Packers’ general manager Ted Thompson is at the Senior Bowl in Mobile Alabama this week. He and numerous other N-F-L executives and scouts are getting a look at the nation’s top senior draft prospects for April. T
he South and North teams are practicing all week, and they’ll face each other on Saturday. For the second year in a row,
Thompson will be under pressure to improve the Green Bay defense, which gave up 579 yards to San Francisco in the Packers’ divisional playoff loss. Veteran defensive back Charles Woodson said right after that game that the Packers need to get bigger and faster. Thompson agreed, but he brushed off some critics who said the Packers are not tough enough.
The G-M said the large number of injuries was a factor, although he would not use it as an excuse. Thompson said the Packers responded well to their adversity, and he’s proud of what they did. Thompson also gave a vote of confidence to the coaching staff – including defensive coordinator Dom Capers, who was the most heavily criticized following the loss to the 49’ers.
