Marathon County supervisor John Robinson speaks at a rally supporting the Affordable Care Act for Wisconsin, January 22, 2013

WAUSAU, Wis. (WSAU) - Supporters of an expansion of Wisconsin's Badgercare program met at the Marathon County Courthouse yesterday to rally for the Affordable Care Act.

The rally, organized by Wisconsin Jobs Now, called on Governor Scott Walker to accept the finding from the Affordable Care Act in order to help get people off the Badgercare waiting list and into the program. According to the group, Wisconsin could get 211,000 people off the waiting list and into the program by accepting the $12 billion dollars the government is offering.

County board supervisor John Robinson said that the measure is not a partisan issue. "Wisconsin has a rich tradition of being non-partisan on the issue, with BadgerCare being created by Tommy Thompson and continued under Governor Doyle." Robinson says that preventive care offered under the BadgerCare program can help keep people out of hospitals and on the job.

The group is asking people to sign a petition to ask Governor Walker to accept the funding. You can find that link online at their website.
