UNDATED (WSAU) The unemployment rate is up in Marathon County. New figures for December show the jobless rate rising from 6.2 to 6.5 percent. The Wausau area lost about 700 jobs.

Lincoln County's unemployment rate rose from 8.0 to 8.8 percent.

Portage County's jobless rate rose from 5.5 to 5.9 percent.

Only two of the state's 72 counties had unemployment-rate decreases. They are Kenosha and Menominee counties.
