TOMAHAWK, WI -  A bus driver from Stevens Point may be penalized after driving into the ditch near Tomahawk last Wednesday. Lincoln County deputies want to know exactly what happened. The school bus left highway 8 near Highway 51 at about 6:00 a.m. and entered the ditch.

The driver claims the bus blew a tire, but several adult passengers said the driver fell asleep and he went in the ditch as they were yelling at him to wake up. There were no children on the bus, only adults.

Lincoln County authorities have not yet released the 73-year-old driver’s name. They are still taking statements from passengers. Nobody was hurt in the incident.
