MILWAUKEE, WI (LEARFIELD-WSAU) Brewers’ left-fielder Ryan Braun is expected to start his first game in a month tonight. Braun was activated from the disabled list yesterday, and third baseman Aramis Ramirez took his place on the D-L.
Braun’s been out with nerve damage between his right thumb and index finger, which made it harder to get a good grip on the bat. He also bruised the thumb, and he said it probably won’t be 100-percent for the rest of the year. Braun will be eased back into the lineup. He’s expected to play part of tonight’s game, and then take tomorrow off.
Ramirez has been sore ever since he sprained his left knee twice while sliding into bases in March and April – and he hurt himself again on a diving catch at third base on Saturday night against the Mets. Manager Ron Roenicke said Ramirez has developed patella tendinitis in the knee. Because of next week’s All-Star break, Ramirez won’t miss as many games as he otherwise would have while on the 15-day D-L.
