Burnett Lands Big New Deal

GREEN BAY, WI (LEARFIELD-WSAU) The Green Bay Packers have locked up the leader of their secondary, after signing safety Morgan Burnett to a four-year contract worth a reported 24-and-three-quarter million dollars.

The Packers did not immediately announce the deal. N-F-L-Dot-Com said Burnett is getting an eight-and-a-quarter million dollar signing bonus, and he can get up to 26-million with incentives. He was scheduled to make almost one-and-a-third million dollars in the final year of his rookie contract.

The 24-year-old Burnett is entering his fourth N-F-L season, all with the Packers. He and Saint Louis linebacker James Laurinaitis were the only defensive players in the league not to miss a snap last season.

Burnett quarterbacked the secondary in 2012, while leading Green Bay in tackles with 123. He also had two of his six career interceptions last season.
