STEVENS POINT, Wis. (WSAU) - A growing annual conference coupled with airline connecting flight issues is forcing a change after nearly four decades.
The National Wellness Conference has been hosted in Stevens Point since its inception. The Stevens Point based National Wellness Institute is holding this year’s conference this week at the University of Wisconsin Stevens Point. Next year, the conference is going to Minneapolis, to the University of Minnesota’s West Bank Campus.
Organizers say the increasing size of the conference coupled with the limited number of flights to Central Wisconsin Airport have caused them to move the 2014 event. Some attendees have experienced cancelled flights, and have been forced to rent cars from Chicago or the Twin Cities to attend the Stevens Point event.
Institute officials hope to alternate hosting between Stevens Point and Minneapolis every other year.
