TOMAHAWK, WI  (WSAU)  -  A car and a semi truck crashed Thursday afternoon north of Tomahawk on Highway 51.  One of the drivers died in the crash, which happened at about 2:00 p.m.

Oneida County authorities received a 9-1-1 call reporting a reckless driver heading north on Highway 51 at 1:56 p.m. The emergency dispatcher received another 9-1-1 call six minutes later saying the reckless driver crossed the centerline and crashed by hitting the trailer of a southbound semi truck. The car’s driver died from the injuries. The name of the driver is being withheld until relatives are notified.

The Oneida County Sheriff's Office was assisted by the Wisconsin State Patrol, Nokomis Fire Department and First Responders, Tomahawk Fire Department and Ambulance, Oneida County Highway and EMS, and the Oneida County Medical Examiner's Office.

Northbound traffic was rerouted around the crash while the southbound lanes of US 51 remained open.
