WISCONSIN RAPIDS, Wis. (WSAU) -- A man was rescued after jumping into the Wisconsin River in Wisconsin Rapids late Saturday night.
Several 9-1-1 calls alerted authorities when the man jumped off the Jackson Street bridge just before midnight. Officers and bystanders located the man clinging to a rock wall under the bridge. A rope was dropped for the man to hang onto while a rescue boat was dispatched to get him out of the water.
The man’s name and age have not been released, but Wisconsin Rapids police say he was treated for minor injuries at Riverview Medical Center and then taken to a mental health facility for evaluation.
