THORP (WSAU) A former high school track coach accused of having an inappropriate relationship with a student-athlete will face new charges for violating his bond. The Clark County Sheriffs Department said 43-year-old Scott Bergman made contact with the alleged victim on Wednesday night.
A police report says sheriffs investigators received a tip that Bergman and the 17-year-old had been communicating. Bergman’s car was followed to the parking lot of a church in Luben, where the two were found together.
Bergman was charged with felony bail-jumping and spent the night in the Clark County jail. A judge will decide if he’ll forfeit $2,000 cash bond. He may be ordered to remain in jail until trial.
A condition of his bond from February was that Bergman have no contact with the victim.
Bergman is charged with felony sexual assault of student by school staff, and two misdemeanors of having sex with a child over 16. During the original investigation police found partially nude pictures and suggestive text messages on Bergman’s cellphone.
