MADISON, WI (WSAU) - We should see Marathon County’s empty judge’s chair filled soon.
Circuit Judge Vincent Howard retired from the Branch 3 bench February 1st. A new judge will be appointed by Governor Scott Walker to complete Howard’s term.
Walker’s spokesman Cullen Werwie says, “We're finalizing the appointment and will make an announcement when that is done.”
The appointed judge will finish Howard’s term, and will have to run for election in the spring of 2014.
Judge Howard was first appointed to Branch 4 of the Marathon County Circuit Court in 1982, and remained there following elections in 1983 and 1989. He lost his election in 1995 to current Judge Greg Grau. After a short break, Howard was then appointed to succeed Ann Walsh Bradley in Branch 3. He’s been there since his 1995 appointment.
