WASHINGTON D.C. (WTAQ) - Several of Wisconsin’s leading Republicans are in the nation’s capital for a pair of functions.
House Republican Jim Sensenbrenner of Menomonee Falls was scheduled to speak Thursday at the Conservative Political Action Conference in Washington. It’s the nation’s largest annual gathering for conservatives.
Also, Wisconsin Assembly Speaker Robin Vos is introducing House Budget Chairman Paul Ryan Thursday afternoon at a meeting of the National Conference of State Legislatures in D.C.
Ryan will also speak to the conservative conference on Saturday, along with Wausau area Congressman Sean Duffy and his wife Rachel Campos-Duffy.
Governor Scott Walker will also be at the conference Saturday – but not before he hosts a lunch time fundraiser Thursday in Milwaukee for New Jersey Governor Chris Christie.
Christie campaigned for Walker in his recall election a year ago – and Walker defended Christie after the Conservative Political Action Conference did not invite the New Jersey leader to speak there.
