ROTHSCHILD, WI (WSAU) -  Residents and business owners talked about a Rothschild highway project that is about a year away. The Department of Transportation held an informational meeting at the Rothschild Village Hall about the Highway 29 and Business 51 interchange in Rothschild last evening.

DOT Project Manager Mark Steidl says it’s important to communicate with people because big projects like this impact their ability to get around.  "With a project like this, we'll be working closely next to traffic, and there's always that concern about lane closures, when they're going to happen.  This project will require some temporary roadway closures and so it's good for people to be informed about when those impacts will occur so they can better prepare for them  during construction.”

Steidl says construction will start in 2014, and will involve rebuilding the interchange as well as lengthening the merge lanes and replacing decks on bridges over the Wisconsin River by the paper mill.
