MAPLEWOOD, MN (WSAU) - The search for a former Wausau area woman in the Twin Cities suburbs has led police and volunteers back to a lake that was close to her home.
Law enforcement teams brought cadaver dogs back to Keller Lake in Maplewood Minnesota as they try to find the body of 30-year-old Kira Trevino. St. Paul Police Public Information Officer Paul Paulos says nobody is giving up in this effort. “We’re going to continue the search, along with the family, along with the Police Department, more importantly the community that has strived great efforts in helping on this.”
Nearly 50 holes were cut in the Keller Lake ice Wednesday to allow the dogs to try locating Trevino’s scent. Authorities also sent sonar cameras under the ice. So far, there’s no sign of the D.C Everest graduate.
Kira Travino’s father Jay Steger was at the search site yesterday. He’s hopeful they find his daughter so there can be some closure to this tragedy.
Her husband Jeffrey is jailed on 2nd degree murder charges after significant blood evidence was recovered from Kira’s car and home.
