Ramirez Back Tomorrow, Davis Sent Down

by

MILWAUKEE, WI (WSAU) Brewers’ third baseman Aramis Ramirez expects to return tomorrow night against Saint Louis. He’s been out for almost a month, after he sprained his left knee sliding into second base.

The Brewers created a roster spot for Ramirez late yesterday, when they sent outfielder Khris Davis down to Triple-“A” Nashville. Davis had one hit in nine pinch-hitting appearances, for a .188 batting average.

Ramirez chose not to take a minor league rehab assignment, opting to face a solid Cardinals’ pitching staff right away. Ramirez said he’s done that before when he was with the Chicago Cubs. Manager Ron Roenicke says he might put Ramirez in a lower spot in the batting order for a couple games, before returning him to his normal cleanup spot.

When Ramirez does come back, the skipper said he would give Yuniesky Betancourt most of the work at first base. Betancourt has homered in his last three games and has 22 R-B-I’s. Alex Gonzalez opened the season at first, but he’ll return to a utility back-up role.

Corey Hart, Milwaukee’s regular first baseman, is due back at the end of this month following knee surgery.
